What does a normal trip look like?

Let’s use 18-23 March 2022 HENKRIES TRIP as an example.

18 March

You arrive at basecamp. You will be CAMPING AT BASECAMP for the night. Meet your guides, the rest of the group, set up camp and settle in. Dinner will be served at camp. After dinner, your guide will do a briefing about what to expect on the trip/explain some procedures.

19 March

Breakfast will be served at camp. After breakfast you pack your bags, hop in the truck and set off on your adventure. It is a 2-hour drive to the launch point. When you arrive there your guide will give instructions and you will pack your back, listen to a safety briefing and hop on the water for your first day of paddling. Lunch and dinner will be served on the water. First night under the stars.

20 March

Full day of paddling. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on the water. Second night under the stars.

21 March

Full day of paddling. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on the water. Third night under the stars.

22 March

Breakfast served on the water. Half day paddle to the take-out point. We normally have lunch at the take-out point while we wait for our pick-up. About a 40min drive and you are back at basecamp to enjoy a cold drink and a hot shower.

23 March

Coffee and rusks served before you depart. You can depart at any time. You can also book an extra night to stay over for another night.

If you feel like you want to paddle the Orange River in 2022, DO IT. We love questions, please ask them!
